Recognize these houses? I watched a lot of Full House growing up so these were cool to see. The one on the end that looks different than the others is for sale if you want it! It's only 4 million.

San Fran
So to celebrate our 10 years married we took a little trip to San Fran. Of course it would have been awesome to go to Hawaii or Florida but finances dictate our travel plans right now so we will have our big trips in a few more years! But it was just a treat to be able to go on a plane and read, and sleep in, and eat cupcakes without having to share with little mouths! It was super fun and the kids had a blast at Grandma and Grandpas which makes the trip even better to know they were happy too. So here is a little about our trip.

Ok, so here is good ole Alcatraz. We both love tours and museums so this was right up our alley. It was super interesting. It's an audio tour if you are wondering about the earphones. It was neat to hear from the previous guards and inmates and to hear about the escapes and how the family members of the guards lived on the island too. Now if you look to the picture below you will notice that I am wearing a hat. Why would a person need a hat when the weather forecast in San Fran said 58 degrees and sunny. Oh, because the actual weather was 41 degrees and windy!

But this above picture I am inside so why did I still need a hat? Because no where was warm! None of the stores seem to have heaters in them. What you don't see in this picture is that I am actually wearing two coats, a sweater, a long sleeve shirt and a tank top. Plus two pairs of socks. No joke. I was like a little icicle. Peter was fine with it but that not a surprise since he did serve a mission in Siberia and didn't mind the cold there!
Not every day that you see the weiner-mobile. And we saw it twice. Oh, and you may notice that we are on a bus with no top. That's right, not only was I freezing wandering around town but our bus tour was open top. My arms were sore by the end of the day from huddling myself in a little ball. But the tour was fun. We saw the whole city and learned a lot. It was a hop on hop off so it took us where we needed to go with commentary along the way. I don't regret doing it at all and the memories of the freezing-ness will fade!
Yes, we actually did convince strangers to take our pictures a few times. These two were taken at the California Academy of Sciences (we are on the living roof in the top pic and you can see the living roof in the back of the bottom one). It was really neat. It was an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and other neat science stuff. It wasn't a kid place necessarily but we missed having H and G there to teach them things. How am I doing at not looking cold? I tried really hard.
So this below pic was before the hat was purchased and I am not sure when I have been this cold. You can kind of tell. Also we were supposed to have Alcatraz in the background but the guy didn't tell us we were standing in front of it! This is at Pier 39 which is a fun little place. We didn't spend much time there (because of the previously mentioned freezing-ness) but it was still really fun to see.
Yes, and we saw the bridge. It was really neat. I wish we could have gone out on it but we didn't get a chance. It was still fun to see in the background. On the last day we were there the fog cleared out and we realized that we could see it from our hotel room!
So fun. I recommend everyone go on little trips like this. We were only there for 2 full days but will have lots of fun memories and it is fun to explore new cities. And if you do go there and visit Ghiradelli square (which we went to several times but just didn't get any pics) go to Kara's cupcakes. I have been to my share of cupcake places and this one is by far the best! I am now sad that I can't eat one right now. Also, a fun highlight without pictures- the museum de mechanique- or something like that. It just had a bunch of old carnival quarter games and silly things. But you didn't just look at them you got to play them. You know the old fortune tellers, little scenes that moved, and then classics like pac man, and some pinball games! The things people paid for to get entertained were super funny. So much entertainment for so little money! I would go back there again and again if I could. So long, San Fran. It's been fun.

I recognized those houses right away! Looks like fun, I'm trying to drop the hint to Mark to take me there for my bday. I don't think he's taking it though.
How fun!!! You were so close and did see us. Next time. IT is fun down there.
How fun! What's the Mark Twain quote? "The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco." I love that one. It is strangely cold there though. I remember freezing when we used to visit as kids.
