Vermont!

When we lived here before there were several things that we never got to do that I really wanted to make sure we did this time around.  So we started out with a little loop in Vermont.  We started by driving to Essex NY where we took a ferry across Lake Champlain.  The funny thing is we had no idea that we needed to take a ferry until we were about half way there and we looked at the google directions where it instructed us to take a ferry.  We were excited though because we knew H would think it was super exciting, which she did!  This is us waiting to get on.It rained for most of the ferry ride so we had to stay in the car but at the end it stopped raining and we got a few cute pics of our excited 3 year old with her favorite person ever- daddy!
The next stop was the Vermont Teddy Bear factory where we took a tour of how the teddy bears are made.  It was neat to see how much effort is put in their teddy bears.  After the tour we got to stuff a bear for H because honestly who can take a 3 year old girl to a teddy bear factory and not leave with a teddy bear!  This is her teddy bear right after it got sewn up.

Next stop, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream factory.  We took a tour of the factory which is actually pretty short and you can't take pictures but then we get ice cream at the end!  We all got the same flavor and H started eating hers and then said she didn't like it so P took hers and switched it with her and told her to try his.  Of course in ture 3 year old fashion, she loved that one!!  Same flavor, but she didn't know that so it tasted better to her for some reason.
They have a flavor graveyard where the flavors they have retired are honored.  H didn't really understand the idea of the graveyard so she would hide behind the tombstone and say "where is H?" and then she'd jump out and say, "here I am!!"  She thought it was so funny!
They also had cows and a playground for H to play on.

Last stop: Sharon, Vermont-the birthplace of Joseph Smith.  P and H have been here before while I was at girls camp one year but it was my first time going.  Vermont is the most beautiful place and so many times we remarked on how amazing all the trees were and how quaint it was.

I love to visit the sights that teach us about our church history and those people who fought for what we believe.  They were remarkable people and I could only hope to be a little like them someday.
So with pink teddy bear in hand (she named it Bubby) we headed towards home.  We stopped at a pizza place called A Crust Above in Rutland Vermont.  It was probably the most unique and one of the most delicious pizza's I have ever had so if you are ever in Rutland and are up for different types of pizza give it a shot.

We were tired at the end of the day and even more tired as we realized that our one visit to A Crust Above would be a repeat the next day since we left our diaper bag with all my important stuff there...P took a nice 3 1/2 hour drive the next day to retrieve my bag...we will definitly check for everything before heading home next time!
So long Vermont...thanks for the good time.

Sounds like you had fun. I have to wear my purse around my shoulder because I have left it places. :) And I have taken to carrying my drivers license, debit card, and library card in my back pocket.

My kids love the Ben & Jerry's tour... and we love it because it's free for kids - and you get free ice cream! We pass by that Pizza Place whenever we go to Samson's parents house... maybe one day we'll give it a try!

Did you know Samson's parents go to church in Sharon Vermont, at the chapel (which is currently being remodeled), right next to the Visitors Center?

You did that all in one day?! Wow! Marathon! We did Ben and Jerry's and Sharon a couple summers ago (when we stopped and met you for dinner) and thought they were both great! I still love that they give gym memberships to the Ben and Jerry quality assurance people. I think that is so funny for some reason!
