At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday I was induced. Things went very slow from that point on. It was like my body forgot that I had done this before and refused to dialate. At one point we had to turn off the pitocin because my contractions were all over the place and the baby's heart beat was a little weird when I would have a contraction. Then about 7 p.m. we started to reintroduce the pitocin (keeping in mind I had an epidural so they could do whatever they wanted with the pitocin and it didn't cause any extra pain to me) Slowly but surely my body finally reached about 10 centimeters at around midnight. So we decided to push but as we pushed it seemed that the babies head was not actually moving it was just getting more and more coney.
So after 1 1/2 hours of pushing the doctor determined that the baby must just be too big to come through and we would have to do a c-section. He gave me the option of the c-section much earlier in the day but I wanted to try everything before we decided on it.
I was so so tired from the day, the medicine made me so much more relaxed, and I just wanted to see my little boy that the c-section is all a bit hazy for me. I drifted in and out of sleep through the whole thing and I think I was only awake to ask stupid questions or ask when they would be done!!
The baby got stuck inside and it was a bit of a tug of war to get him out (again, luckily I didn't feel much) so when he finally did come out he had a little respiratory distress but he was fine within the hour.
Finally around 4:30 a.m. I got to see and hold my little one and dote all over his cute light brown hair and soft chubby little cheeks. It was a long day but worth it and I would do it all over in a heartbeat. He is cuddly and sweet and we all adore him, even H who can't get enough of him. So here is 9 lbs 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Hooray for babies!
