I had to share these funny stories about H's new obsession with the movie The Polar Express which she calls the choo choo train movie.
1. The first time I had her watch it she watched it on her own while I caught up on a few things and as it ended I walked in to see that the credits have snow falling and went to turn it off. Immediately H started crying and saying, "Jesus, want Jesus". I thought that it was strange because this movie is about Santa and I didn't recall their being any nativity or religious references. Of course I thought, I must be a good mom because I have somehow taught her the true meaning of Christmas without even knowing it!!
2. Then the second time she watched the movie I came in at one point and sat down with her and watched as the little elves jumped up and down and the children in the movie waited for Santa to come out. There is a part in the movie when the little boy reaches down to get a bell off the ground and when he looks up there is a very glowy Santa standing beside him. Just then H said, "Jesus!". Because Santa was all white and glowy she thought he was Jesus, hence crying for him, aka the movie, when it was over. I thought it was the funniest, and super sweet, little Christmas story.
3. Then today as we were getting ready to leave the house H was standing by the window, like the kid does in the Polar Express, and when I asked her what she was doing she said, "train, choo choo, go see Santa". She was watching out the window for the train to take her to see Santa.
Funny how a simple movie can launch her into the world of pretend and make such an impact on her thoughts and actions. So tonight we will probably watch the Polar Express and we'll see what more fun things come of it.

This is Tylers absolute most favorite movie. I like her perception of Santa. :) Too sweet.
So cute... My kids have seen the movie but we don't own it... I might have to break down and buy the movie!
Fun...M is going to watch that movie next week at school. They are going to have hot chocolate and watch it in their P.J.'s!! She is so excited.
We LOVE that movie! It's so fun to see your kids travel to another world. H is a cutie...love the hair!!
I love how kids perceive the world ... that is so sweet!
That's cute!! We watched that nonstop at Grandma and Grandpa Merrells. We have the movie and when we got home he asked to watch it but he hasn't asked in a few days. We won't be suggesting it either. However he apparently has been inspired to drink more hot chocolate. We've been drinking a lot more of it (which is fine by me.) The whole time he is quoting words from the hot choclate song. Good times.
A recently discovered this movie. He's not much of a movie watcher, but he calls it the choochoo train movie. He found a little ornament with a train that came with our book version of the Polar Express and every morning he goes to the tree, takes it off, brings it to me, and then asks for the movie or book.
