The final trip of the summer...phew.

So we are back from our final trip of the summer and we have had a great time but we are all ready to get back in our schedule and our life again! Last week we went to Alaska to visit our fam with a short stop in Seattle to visit fam and friends there. Here are some of our Alaska highlights!

H has been on my Dad's boat since she was just a baby. She loves it even though I think she gets a little bored since she can't do a whole lot. I think it is a good chance for her to just relax since most of her life is filled with toys, games, movies, etc.
She likes to help fish so thank goodness we have those fishing pole holder things so she can or else we might lose a few fishing poles in the process of her learning how to fish! So in case anyone is wondering, we mostly fish for halibut. We were fishing in 300 feet deep water with 20-40 pound weights. It is hard to reel the lines up without the fish so I look particularly wimpy when there is a fish on the line!
But sometimes we catch sharks.
And this happens every time. The life jacket was very helpful in this situation since it held her in this little seat in the corner. She didn't move for over an hour while she slept. I kept thinking she would start to tip or something but nope, didn't move a muscle.
Here are a few of our catches. We mostly fish for really big halibut so we don't keep a lot of them. These aren't all that big but we had to come home with something!
At one point H decided she wanted to be a photographer. What do you think of her first attempts??
Then she wanted to be the model so she posed for a few pictures herself. Seldovia (where our cabin is) is great for her hair. It would rain and then clear up and her hair would just get curlier and curlier.
G spent most of his time in this. It's called a Gator, but H called it the Gatorade. At one point P took the kids on a ride and ended up stuck in some serious mud. Shhh, don't tell my dad! Then every time after that when P was driving it G would say, "no, dada, no tuck mud!" It was pretty funny!
This is the view we had when we were kayaking back to the cabin. It was such a calm night and so beautiful.
Thanks to my sisters kayaks we get to enjoy super fun kayaking. It is fun to have a little time with P while enjoy such amazing scenery and hearing the noises of the birds, and the water, and then some gun shots, but we stayed far away from that noise!
Eagles aren't quite as majestic when they are eating halibut carcasses but still cool when they are right in front of you!
Beach bonfires are a must at the cabin. It makes for a little difficulty in roasting marshmallows since you feel like your face is going to burn off but so fun to enjoy the sunset at 11 p.m. around the fire.
G wasn't so happy to have his picture taken but it's fun to have one of all of us together.
Then this always happens in my Dad's plane. I am actually surprised I was awake to take it because it always happens to me too!
Back in Anchorage we visited the Anchorage museum which the kids loved. G played with these boats and the train set there for a really long time.

So that's the end of our vacationing for a little while. We had SO much fun with family and seeing everyone both in Seattle and Alaska. Now onto school and soccer starting!
