The 7th Ultrasound

That's right- number seven of the ultrasounds was done today and let me tell you the exciting results, but first two things.

1. I always thought it was really neat to say that I was 10 lbs 14 oz. when I was born. Then I married a man who was almost 9 lbs at birth. Also a fun weight. However, have you ever heard that a babies size at birth often depends upon it's parents...

2. I am 38 weeks along- I still have 2 weeks until my due date which is not miscalculated because when you do fertility treatments it is certain.

So... I had an ultrasound today because the doctor kept telling me I was measuring big. After the head, abdomen, and femur were measured it was determined that my cute little guy is somewhere around 9.3 pounds (that's 9.3 which is equivalent to 9 lbs, 5 oz)! With two weeks to go. We asked how accurate the machine was and she said that it could be up to a half a pound under that number-but honestly 8 1/2 lbs already!! What have I been eating? So my little guy is not so little but who doesn't want a little chubby newborn!

So what will they do for me? My induction is now scheduled for next Saturday- 9 days away. They can't do it before 39 weeks and that is exactly 39 weeks so hooray for that. So a c-section may be coming my way but that's ok because if I am ever blessed with another child it may be even bigger and a c-section would probably be inevitable!

So here are some cute pics of my little chubby cheeked baby. I think his cheeks are extra chubby because he is a little squished in there but isn't he super cute!! Again, don't pay attention to the strangness of his hand or lumpiness- it is just the ultrasound pics and our scanner. We are anxious but now the end is in sight! Hooray!

A baby born at 9 or 10 lbs will still seem tiny... My sisters have all had small, small babies (like 4 and 5 pounders) and I bet they would have much preferred to have had a few extra pounds on those babies... small babies can be scary!

I am so excited for you... Enjoy the last few nights - as best as you can! Keep us posted

Yeah! Both of mine were almost 9 lbs and they were both born at 38 weeks on the dot. Hope all goes well, c-section or not. So excited for you!

Even with my c-section schedule you're still going to get your baby first! Can't wait to hear how things go. I had my second to last doctor's appointment today and am feeling really excited and ready for our little guy to come. Today A decided that he was going to name the baby lemonade. That's new.

Feel good. Get some rest. Enjoy holding H before your arms are full of new baby. And ask every possible question about c-sections. One thing that startled me a bit was that there is a bit of a sensation that you can't breath because of the spinal numbness. You can and are. Just don't freak out. Also, take some music (my doc suggested I bring my ipod) to listen to while they are stitching you up. It's kind of a long process and you can get a really queasy feeling and P will leave the room to go be with the baby so you'll be alone for a while. That was my panic moment. Soothing music or conference talks or podcast may help you pass the time. Good luck!

Good Luck. I was induced with Akirah 10 days early and it was a wonderful experience. I am planning on begging the doctor to induce me as soon as they are willing (I think they have the same policy here that they won't do it before 39 weeks).
